About Dr. Heilmeier-Santos
Dr. Kristin Heilmeier-Santos received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky in 2010. She then attended Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2014.
Dr. Heilmeier joined Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital in December 2019. Prior to moving to North Carolina with her husband, she practiced at a small animal clinic in Charlottesville, Virginia for five years.
Dr. Heilmeier has a special interest in preventive and internal medicine. She also has completed her certification and is a Fear Free Certified Professional.
Dr. Heilmeier and her husband Marcos, who is an equine veterinarian at Tryon Equine Hospital, reside in Tryon with their two cats and three horses. Outside of practice, Dr. Heilmeier and her husband enjoy hiking, running marathons, and riding their horses, Eric, Joey and Avela.
