At Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital & Veterinary Emergency Hospital, we pride ourselves on having the facilities, equipment and knowledge to quickly and accurately assess your pets’ condition. In-house Laboratory
An extensive in-house IDEXX lab and our trained personnel provide immediate response for diagnosis, disease management and emergency treatment options. Our diagnostics include:
Having these lab capabilities in-house helps us diagnose and treat such conditions as diabetes, anemias, Cushings disease, renal, liver, intestinal and infectious diseases. We also maintain relations with IDEXX Reference laboratories for any specialized testing beyond what we do in-house. Turnaround on our lab requests is prompt and we use daily courier pick-up.
Digital RadiographyWe have digital radiography equipment in house. Producing our radiographs digitally rather than on film means they’re processed faster, provide better image quality, can be transmitted to any computer screen in our facility, including individual exam rooms, and can be quickly shared with referring doctors or specialist veterinary facilities. All referring veterinarians and clients receive a digital copy of their pet’s radiographs.
UltrasoundWestern Carolina Regional Animal Hospital & Veterinary Emergency Hospital is equipped with in-house ultrasound capabilities, which image internal organs and tissue differently from x-rays. An ultrasound can be of great benefit with early pregnancy diagnosis, identification of bladder tumors, stones, prostate cancer, liver tumors, foreign bodies, spleen masses and tumors inside other organs. In addition to our own veterinarians performing ultrasound procedures, we have an ultrasound veterinarian on call, night or day, for unusual or more complicated cases.
EndoscopyWe have an in-house Storz video endoscope, which uses a fiber optic scope for real-time imaging of the esophagus, stomach, upper small intestine and trachea. This technology is invaluable in diagnosing diseases of these organs. An added benefit is that the endoscope can be used to remove small foreign bodies from your pet’s stomach without doing major abdominal surgery.
