"We're really pleased," said Jennifer Vachon-Lyda, co-chair for the event. "I think having it on Main Street has really helped."

Bark for Life is an American Cancer Society Relay For Life fundraising event that honors the care giving qualities and lifelong contributions of canine best friends. Vendors from vets, to crafters and artists to pet supply stores came out to showcase their animal-centered services or goods.
"I'm amazed there's this many people turning out for the second event," said Dr. Fred Rosen, vet with Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital. "It's great seeing this many dogs and not having to vet them."
Rosen was out with his dog, Doc Watson, a Jack Russell terrier he delivered by C-section.
"I couldn't part with him," Rosen said, looking down at Doc Watson.
"It's a great event," said Carolyn Paden, executive director of the Blue Ridge Humane Society. "Animals are our heart companions.
Some of them may have cancer or we've had cancer and our animals have helped us or a loved one through. They're a cherished part of the family."
