What to Bring

Pets can develop a wide variety of medical problems. Because they can’t convey their problems and history to us, diagnosis can be a challenge. Bringing the following information and items can help us in the diagnostic process.
  1. Bring any medications your pet is taking.
  2. Bring a sample of any abnormal stool, vomit or urine.
  3. If seizures or fainting occur, time the length of these episodes.
  4. Bring containers of any possible ingested toxins to the hospital.

Generally being a good observer of your pet can be very helpful in an emergency. For example, knowing when your pet last ate, drank, urinated and defecated can assist in the veterinarian’s evaluation. And we always recommend that pet owners keep an updated record of their pet’s medical history; if you have such a record, please bring it with you to the Veterinary Emergency Hospital.
